Taking the Assessment
What is an Assessment?
An Assessment allows you to view your organization through the lens of The Praesidium Safety Equation® to identify any potential gaps that may exist in your organization’s abuse prevention practices.
Using current research and root cause analyses of thousands of cases of abuse, Praesidium has identified best practices in each operation. These best practices make up the Praesidium Standards. In the Assessment, you'll find a total of 23 standards. These standards are designed for any consumer-serving organization. Each standard has components that need to be implemented to meet the standard. Components have specified criteria to identify a level of implementation.
Assessment process consists of five parts: Instructions > Questionnaire > Assessment > Score > Action Plan.
How long does it take to complete an assessment?
The time to complete an assessment varies based on your organization's size and the need to have others assist with specific components. All in all, leave yourself enough time to complete it.
What is a cycle?
A cycle is the length of time that occurs between assessments.
How often should my organization complete an assessment cycle?
Every organization is different, check with your administrator for additional information on how often you need to complete an assessment.
How do I start an assessment?
To start an assessment, click the start new assessment button on the upper right side of the screen. You will be presented with instructions, followed by the questionnaire, then the assessment. An Assessment can also be started by going to the Assessment tab >select New Self-Assessment
Can I download the assessment and complete it on paper?
There is an option on the top right of the assessment once they have completed the questionnaire. (Note – You will still have to manually enter your assessment answers in the Praesidium Assessment tool if you complete it on paper.)
Do I have to complete an assessment in one sitting?
No. There is an auto-save feature that allows you to leave and come back to the section that you left off at any time. Also, the assessment will indicate which components and operations are incomplete.
How do I complete an assessment for multiple locations or programs?
If your user account is set up with multiple roles, then you can toggle between the roles/locations by clicking on the Role - Entity field in the top right of your dashboard. (Note- This will only be applicable if your organization is structured to allow this.)
How do I assign components to assessors?
On the right-hand side of each component, there is an assign to field where you can select a name from a drop-down list of your users. Next, the assignee will receive an email notification informing them that a component has been assigned for them to complete.
What if I do not have the answer for the question being asked?
You can skip over that question and come back to it when you have the correct answer. All questions in the assessment must be answered to move to the next step "Create Action Plan". (Note: The system will indicate any incomplete responses so skips will be easy to find.)
What if the question being asked is not applicable to our organization?
Your administrator completed a questionnaire during account setup so that only questions applicable to your organization will appear on your assessment. If you think a question has been included in error, please reach out to your administrator.
What is the comment section used for?
Comments are not required to complete an assessment though they are highly encouraged. They allow you to understand the why behind a response and allow you to implement changes better.
What happens after I complete my assessment?
After completing an assessment, you will be able to see your scorecard and action plan to help you close gaps identified during the assessment. (Note: Action plans are not available for all users and depend on how the organization is set up.)
How do I view my score?
Step 4 of the Assessment process will allow you to see your score upon completing the assessment. The Scorecard can also be accessed from the Reports Tab.
How do I assign a component on the Action Plan?
You can allocate a component by using the "@" symbols to assign a component directly to another user in your organization.
